AHMEDABAD: State government has reiterated it is not considering the option of mass promotion of school students due to Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that school exams will be conducted and students evaluated before being promoted to the next academic year. “Schools in Gujarat will conduct exams for class 1-8 and 9 and 11 to evaluate the students on the basis of the syllabus taught online,” Chudasama told TOI. “If the entire syllabus has not been taught online due to the corona pandemic, the students will be evaluated on basis of the limited syllabus taught,” the minister added.

The education minister said all options for the mode of exams are being weighed and the one deemed most suitable will be considered. One option is to give question papers to the students at home which will be evaluated by the teachers. The second option is to convene the students in batches in the schools to make them write the final exam papers.
